Ingredients:
1 ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 cup (120g) shredded sharp cheddar
1 cup (240ml) whole milk
1 large egg
¼ cup (60ml) vegetable oil
Optional Mix-ins:
2 tbsp chopped fresh chives
¼ cup cooked bacon bits
1 diced jalapeño (seeds removed)
Instructions:
1. Prep & Mix
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
In large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, spices, and cheese.
2. Combine Wet Ingredients
In separate bowl, beat milk, egg, and oil until smooth.
3. Make Batter
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Stir just until combined (batter will be thick). Fold in any optional mix-ins.
4. Bake
Transfer to prepared pan. Bake 40-45 minutes until golden and toothpick comes out clean.
5. Cool & Serve
Let cool 10 minutes in pan before transferring to wire rack.
