A decadent cross between fudgy brownies and moist chocolate bread – with a gooey hot fudge swirl!
Ingredients:
For the Bread:
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
½ cup (50g) cocoa powder (Dutch-process preferred)
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
⅓ cup (80ml) whole milk
For the Hot Fudge Swirl:
½ cup (150g) hot fudge sauce (store-bought or homemade)
¼ cup (45g) chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prep & Mix Dry Ingredients
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
2. Make the Batter
In another bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, mixing until just combined (don’t overmix).
3. Layer & Swirl
Pour half the batter into the pan. Drizzle with ½ of the hot fudge sauce and sprinkle with chocolate chips (if using). Add remaining batter, then top with remaining fudge sauce. Use a knife to swirl gently.
4. Bake
Bake for 45-50 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
5. Cool & Serve
Let cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm with ice cream or extra fudge sauce!
Tips:
🔥 Extra fudgy? Underbake slightly (toothpick should have a few sticky crumbs).
🍫 Homemade fudge sauce: Melt ½ cup chocolate chips + ¼ cup heavy cream + 1 tbsp butter.
⏳ Storage: Keep airtight at room temp for 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
Chocolate lover’s dream! 😍
Microwave option: Make mug versions! Divide batter between 2 mugs, microwave 1-1.5 minutes.
